1-Day Itinerary

A Single Day of Wow

One of our greatest assets in Sweetwater County is natural beauty. Buckle up and get ready for a day of auto touring through our painted landscape. A camera and binoculars may as well be required.

8:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

Begin by meeting some of our most famous residents: the wild horses of Pilot Butte. Take the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Loop Tour in a high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle. Wear some closed toed shoes, a light jacket and maybe a hat. Make sure to bring a camera, binoculars and plenty of water and snacks.

11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Go on a scenic drive by traveling the western half of the Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway south on Highway 530. Plan for several pull-overs to take pictures of the local wildlife.

1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

Have lunch at the Flaming Gorge Resort.

2:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Continue the scenic drive by heading up the eastern half of the Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway north on Highway 191. Again, natural beauty abounds at every turn.

6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Finish the day with a delicious dinner at Eve's in Rock Springs.
