Indoor Playground 

GG's Playland is an indoor playground for children ages 0-12 located in Green River, WY. This facility features playground equipment, a toddler area, and a birthday play room. Let the kids burn off some energy while you releax on one of their comfy couches. The perfect playground for chilly days!

Enjoy some friendly competition in an exciting game or two of laser tag! Legendary Laser Tag, located in the White Mountain Mall, is a great place to go on a Saturday afternoon or even for a birthday party. After you’ve built up an appetite, don’t forget to grab a slice of pizza after.

The Sweetwater Creations Studio helps you bring your creative ideas to life. The studio offers painting, sewing, crocheting, wood burning and more so every family member can find something they’re interested in. And the best part is, there’s no mess at home! The staff at Sweetwater Creations Studio will clean up after you’re done, all you have to do is pick a day to visit.

Searching for some of the best ice cream in the state? Look no further than “Home of the Big Cone,” Farson Mercantile. Ice Skating Rinks

Practice your balance and get in some laps at the indoor Ice Arena at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center. The whole family will enjoy gliding across this full-size ice arena. Lessons and rentals are also available, so no need for prior experience.

Skate Parks

Have a skater in the family? Check out some of the local skate parks including Collier Park in Green River or the Wamsutter Skate Park in Wamsutter. For the non-skateboarding family members, Collier Park also features basketball courts, a playground, soccer fields and other recreation opportunities.

Biking/Walking Trails

Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in Sweetwater County by taking a leisurely walk or bike ride through the town of Green River. Follow the GreenBelt Trail System for a scenic and family-friendly ride through neighborhoods and along the river.

Fishing Ponds

Get the little ones fishing at these local spots. Visit the Sweetwater County Picnic Grounds in James Town which features a youth fishing pond, picnic shelters, a playground and more for a day outdoors. Or visit the Wataha Recreation Complex in Rock Springs which also offers a fishing pond, stocked annually with Rainbow Trout!

Flaming Gorge Country

As locals living so close to this natural wonder, we often overlook the opportunities for fun in Flaming Gorge Country. Spend a weekend or school vacation exploring a new part of the national recreation area. We recommend a scenic drive or a breathtaking picnic at sites such as West Greens Lake near the Red Canyon Visitor Center or the Flaming Gorge Dam Visitor Center. If you choose to visit the latter, turn it into an educational experience with a free guided tour of the dam.

Camping

Camping is a great way to get the family outdoors and spending time together. And in Rock Springs and Green River, you don’t have to go far — if you don’t want to! Make it a staycation when you reserve a campsite or a cabin at the Rock Springs / Green River KOA campground or check out these other family-friendly campgrounds. The whole family, pets included, can enjoy use of the pool, playground, horseshoe pits, fire pits and dog park. So get ready to toast some marshmallows, splash in the pool and unwind in the place you’ve always called home.
